Sage Ungerleider has a robust background in women’s healthcare. After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, manga cum laude from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Sage worked as a Newborn Family Unit Staff Nurse at a busy Boston hospital, and later as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at a smaller community hospital. Early during her nursing career, Sage became very interested in midwifery care and while continuing to work as a nurse, earned her Master of Science degree in Nursing, Community Based Nurse Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society.
Sage’s experiences extend well beyond what she gained during her formal education, and her commitment to supporting women's health and well-being is evidenced by her community involvement. While working towards her Masters Degree, Sage was happy to spend her extra time as a volunteer at the Amherst Survival Center, Food Pantry and worked as a hotline staff member for the Center for Women and Community. Sage is also a Certified Lactation Counselor, supporting breastfeeding moms.
"As a midwife I find it rewarding to assist my patients as they learn about their bodies and their health so they can take an active role in caring for themselves. Every stage of life brings unique challenges and my goal is to help you find the tools you need to navigate.”
Outside of her midwifery career, Sage is an avid knitter and enjoys gardening and hiking. She shares her home with her husband, a cat, a fish, and chickens.
