Melissa Sevoian, CNM

Melissa Sevoian, MSN, CNM, WHNP-BC began her career in healthcare as a Registered Nurse after earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cultural Anthropology from UMass, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (magna cum laude) from Drexel University in Philadelphia.  During her time working as a nurse in Philadelphia, she cared for patients in a variety of environments: inpatient gynecology-oncology, a freestanding birth center, and labor and delivery at a large academic medical center.  Parallel to her work as a nurse, Melissa earned a Master of Science in Nursing (Nurse-Midwifery) degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She is thrilled to have relocated back to western Massachusetts to care for individuals and families with Baystate Ob/Gyn Group.

Melissa’s practice of full-scope midwifery care is rooted in shared decision-making, transparency, and collaboration with the patient.  Connecting to each patient’s individual needs and priorities in care is incredibly important to Melissa, and how she believes long-term wellness can be best supported.

The experience of birth is sometimes not what we imagine it to be, but when a person feels empowered by their birth experience (however it unfolds),  trusts in their provider, is truly informed of their options, and is listened to throughout the process, they are set up for parenting in a way that cultivates healthier communities."

Outside of Melissa’s midwifery career, she enjoys spending time with her partner and young daughter. She loves to spend time outside and has recently learned the art of making stained glass pieces. She aspires to be the guardian of a chicken flock one day. Melissa is thankful for your trust as a provider, and sincerely looks forward for caring for you.
