Labor & Postpartum Visitor Policy Update at Baystate Health

Baystate Health has updated their visitor policy for laboring and postpartum women effective March 28, 2020 as announced on Baystate Health's New Beginnings Facebook page.  Please note this policy is subject to change without notice:

  • The support person may stay with the patient in their room throughout their postpartum stay unless the support person shows symptoms at any time.
  • If the support person needs to leave the room for any reason, they will not be allowed back in, even if it is only for a few minutes.
  • The support person will be screened twice each day with questions and for signs of infection:  Do you have a new cough?  Do you have a fever or body aches?  Do you have shortness of breath?  Have any friends or family become symptomatic or tested positive since we last asked?
  • If at any time the visitor is non-compliant with the screening protocols, they will be asked to leave the building.
  • One support person will be allowed in the Operating Room for C-Sections.
