Alexandra “Ali” Pinschmidt, CNM first decided to become a midwife after receiving excellent patient-centered care when pregnant with her two children. After decades working as a youth educator and nonprofit filmmaker, Ali changed careers to pursue her dream of working in women’s health. She earned her nursing degree at Holyoke Community College, and studied midwifery at the Baystate Midwifery Education Program. She also holds a Bachelor’s in Biology, a Master of Arts in International Development and Social Change, as well as a Master of Science in Midwifery.
Prior to joining BOGG, Ali served midwifery patients in several Western Massachusetts hospitals, and also brings her prior skills working as a birth doula. What she loves most about the midwifery model is providing evidence-based care while having a patient’s values, life circumstances, and priorities serve as the guide. She loves getting to know her patients and their families, and is committed to an equity framework.
“I’m passionate about helping patients understand their bodies and how they work, and providing information so patients can make choices about what works best for them at this time in their lives. I believe that listening and kindness go a long way!”
In her free time, Ali enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, making a storytelling podcast with her two daughters, connecting with her husband, reading, and traveling. She is also excited to explore advancements in labor support to reduce the intensity of painful contractions.
