Obstetrics and Gynecology

Call for availability

Jennifer Hallowell takes knowledge and education seriously. “I was raised by teachers, and that upbringing has shaped my medical practice. Knowledge is empowering.” Perhaps that’s why she is so natural at engaging her patients in conversations that educate and put women at ease. “I love to teach my patients about medicine as it relates to their special concerns, such as a transition through adolescence or menopause, or issues relating to medications, Pap smears, surgery, or pregnancy.”

“We do a lot of talking in my office, and I learn as much from my patients as I hope they do from me. The dialogue we create is crucial to my goal of helping patients make healthy and educated decisions that will enhance their lives.”

Effective, meaningful, personal conversations are core elements in Dr. Hallowell’s approach to any situation, especially with her patients. Her patients say that Dr. Hallowell has a way of communicating that just “works,” describing her as extremely knowledgeable, caring and a great listener who feels like a friend helping them through a problem.

As the mother of two daughters and a practicing obstetrician/gynecologist, Dr. Hallowell was especially vigilant during the outbreak of H1N1 flu in 2009, serving as the director of the H1N1 committee at Baystate Ob/Gyn. She was responsible for researching the H1N1 situation, mobilizing staff, drafting medical protocols, and reacting to H1N1 updates in real time. With her leadership, we were able to deliver critical H1N1 vaccines to our patients as soon as they became available and provide clinical care to our pregnant patients who were affected by the H1N1 outbreak.

An avid hiker, Dr. Hallowell enjoys the outdoors with her husband and daughters in New England and Arizona. Indoors, she spends time cooking and practicing yoga.
