Covid-19 Vaccine and Flu Vaccine in Pregnancy

If you are trying to get pregnant, are currently pregnant (or think you could be pregnant), or breastfeeding, you may have questions about whether or not to receive the COVID-19 and flu vaccines, to avoid illness or additional complications.  We’d like to provide you with scientifically-based information so that you can truly make an informed decision about the vaccines.

COVID-19 Vaccine

Aligned with CDC and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology recommendations, we strongly encourage pregnant women, women who are thinking of becoming pregnant, and lactating women to get vaccinated against COVID-19. More information about the COVID vaccine and pregnancy from the CDC can be found here: https://www.cdc.gov/covid/vaccines/pregnant-or-breastfeeding.html

Flu Vaccine

Our practice also recommends the flu vaccine for pregnant women.

Thimerosal FAQ: According to the website for the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), “ACOG supports the recommendations and findings of the federal Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, which found that there is no evidence showing that thimerosal is a danger to the health of the pregnant woman or her fetus.”

Please contact your primary care physician or a flu vaccine clinic for your flu shot.  If you have ANY questions at all about the COVID or flu vaccines or specific concerns about receiving them, please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information.

BOGG offices will be CLOSED on Monday 1/26/2026 due to the winter storm.
