Charlene Case, MD

Current practice: Obstetrics and Gynecology. In private practice since 1999.

Appointments available in Springfield

Dr. Charlene Case has a loyal following of patients who value not only her medical expertise, but also her down to earth personality. Before Charlene Case dives into her clinical role as a doctor with a patient, her absolute first goal is to help the patient feel comfortable and at ease.

"Going to see the doctor can be a very intimidating experience to a lot of women. It is our job as health care professionals to make this process more comfortable.”

Dr. Case’s interest in medicine flourished early in her college career, when she participated in medical research data collection at the Hartford Center for Clinical Research. She had her first exposure to the field of obstetrics and gynecology while in college, when she participated in a summer research program at UCONN Medical School studying placental pathology.  Dr. Case continued to gain clinical experience during a summer job at Beth Israel Hospital, where she was a medical assistant for a faculty Ob/Gyn. Through her experiences, Dr. Case has developed a clear vision for her responsibilities as a women’s health physician. “We need to be accessible, open, and accepting. Good healthcare is a given, the minimum that any patient deserves and expects. Partnering with the patient in her own healthcare - that is a sign of excellence."

With strong ties to community involvement, Dr. Case was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross while at Tufts University School of Medicine, organizing several blood and bone marrow drives. She also helped develop a prenatal education program for pregnant teens at an inner city Boston high school. Following hurricane Katrina, Dr. Case traveled to New Orleans to help rebuild.

As a working mother of three extremely active young boys, and wife to an equally active husband, her patients seem to bond with her sensitive, yet realistic perspective on things. When not in the office, Dr. Case enjoys the great outdoors with her family on foot, on skis, or on bikes.
