Michelle Mills, CNM

Nurse midwife at BOGG since 2019; diverse range of experiences in women's healthcare.

Michelle Mills, CNM has navigated through her education and formal training with great focus on seeking diverse experiences that have helped shape her career in women’s health, both in New England and beyond. Shortly after completing her secondary education, Michelle earned her Midwife Assistant Certification and went on to complete Licensed Practical Nurse Training in the Cape Cod area. Applying those skills, Michelle worked as a visiting nurse, apprentice midwife, and doula in Massachusetts and Vermont. Michelle went on to become a Registered Nurse, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and complete a Bachelor of Science in Maternal Child Health. After working in Maternal Fetal Medicine and as a lactation consultant, Michelle earned her Master of Science in Midwifery from Thomas Jefferson University and her Certificate in Nurse-Midwifery from Baystate Midwifery Education Program.

Michelle’s interest in global health and dedication to enriching her professional development through meaningful experiences is evident through her compassionate volunteer work, community involvement, and love of learning. Michelle has served as a student legislative contact for the American College of Nurse Midwives and is a photographer with Heart Scene Photo, raising funds for international women’s health organizations with her world travel photography as a platform for discussion. Shortly before joining Baystate Ob/Gyn Group, Michelle joined another local midwife for a month in Ghana to help develop an education exchange with Ghanaian midwives. In 2019, Michelle co-authored an article in the Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health on Expanded Practice in Midwifery: Designing, Implementing, and Maintaining Programs, and she remains an active member in a midwifery research and writing group.

"It is an honor to be with women during different transitions in their lives. Through shared decision making, my goal is to individualize care by respecting the needs of each woman and collaborating with other healthcare staff to provide a holistic approach to meeting their needs."

Outside of her career, Michelle enjoys exploring local mountains and trails and adventuring abroad when she can.
