Dr. Debra Junnila is the newest member of Baystate Ob/Gyn Group, and to many of her patients her fresh approach, inquisitive nature, and clinical thoroughness are what contribute to her appeal. Dr. Junnila believes in active patient participation as an important part of optimizing the relationship between a patient and her physician, and also credits these relationships for making her a better doctor.

As Dr. Junnila continues to develop and define her clinical interests, she thrives on the variety of her practice. "One of the reasons I thoroughly enjoy my job is because of the diverse nature of what I do. I treat women from their teenage years through their eighties and nineties. It's rewarding to know that I can help with their everyday problems, pregnancies, and more severe problems requiring surgery."
While a resident at Baystate Medical Center, Dr. Junnila received recognition from both her superiors and peers for her medical skills and proactive approach. She continues to enjoy working with and teaching residents and introducing medical students to the unique opportunities within the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
Outside of the office, Dr. Junnila’s interests include spending time with her husband and two young children, running, kayaking, and traveling. Her most cherished trip was to the wildlife-abundant Galapagos Islands where she has great memories of snorkeling above giant sea turtles and stepping over sea lions as they sunbathed on the hiking paths.
