Welcome CNMs Rosenstein & Benejan
We are pleased to introduce two Certified Nurse Midwives, Aliza Rosenstein, CNM and Karrian Benejan, CNM who both joined our practice in 2019.
Aliza Rosenstein earned her undergraduate degree from Brown University, and then came to midwifery after several years working with food and on farms. Aliza is passionate about nutrition and inspiring others to cultivate their own good health and resiliency through making small lifestyle changes. After she fell in love with birth work as a doula, Aliza went on to Yale School of Nursing where she earned her certificate in Nursing as well as her Master of Science in Nursing degree. Working closely with patients and their families, Aliza strives to provide care that embodies the core of midwifery. Aliza’s favorite part of being a midwife is getting to bear witness to the incredible strength and resilience of women, as she aims to empower her patients to make decisions about their bodies and help them become confident healthcare consumers who can weigh the latest evidence to make the right choices for themselves and their families.
Karrian Benejan’s interest in healthcare began early in life well before formal nursing or midwifery training, when the fundamental elements of nurse midwifery became second nature through learning from her grandmother, who was also a midwife. Karrian earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She gained experience in nursing and effective patient care through positions as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Student Nurse Associate, and Registered Nurse in Cardiac Telemetry and Surgery. After developing valuable hands-on nursing skills in collaborative environments, Karrian went on to earn her Master of Science degree and her Certificate in Nurse Midwifery from Philadelphia University/Jefferson University and Baystate Medical respectively. Providing a supportive environment that takes into consideration patient needs, including socioeconomic challenges, is important to Karrian; her warm personality, effective communication skills, and years of experience in nursing all contribute to the outstanding care that she provides.
Both Aliza and Karrian are currently available for appointments in our Springfield office (and will be available later in 2019 in our Longmeadow office). We are pleased to be able to offer increased appointment availability with the addition of Aliza and Karrian in our midwifery department - now is a great time to contact us especially if you are due for your annual well-woman visit!
