Liz Howell, CNM Attends CenteringPregnancy® Workshop

Liz Howell, CNM of our practice attended a two-day facilitator workshop given by the Centering Healthcare Institute (CHI) in May, 2010. The focus of the workshop was CenteringPregnancy®, one of the programs sponsored by CHI and currently available at Baystate Ob/Gyn Group as an option for prenatal care. During the two-day workshop, CHI covered many topics including the basic principles of a group approach to healthcare.

Liz is looking forward to applying the facilitative skills she gained at the workshop in her practice of women’s healthcare and is eager to join the CenteringPregnancy® team at BOGG. Liz is scheduled to begin a CenteringPregnancy group in July, for patients with a due date of February, 2011. Liz commented that “the workshop was an excellent opportunity to learn hands-on facilitative skills as applied in a group healthcare model. Not only was I able to immerse myself in the concept of Centering during the two day workshop, I also had the opportunity to focus on how to empower women to seek wellness throughout pregnancy and beyond.”
